Spotlight On

This month we are highlighting -

Sue Kraft, Head of Complementary Therapy and Rachel Mallett, Treasurer and Trustee represented the CancerHelp Team on the day.

The amazing members of TRibeFitness and the other incredible Firewalkers!

On Saturday, 2nd March 40 fabulous women, and one man, mustered their determination, faced their fears and put their best foot forward to walk on burning hot coals in aid of CancerHelp.

The support and camaraderie was incredible to witness and every single participant finished with a smile on their face – some even going back for a second go!

We were thrilled by the donations of cakes and raffle prizes that in themselves raised £375 on the day.

But the biggest win, with final amounts still being counted was that between these incredible people, over £18,000 has been raised.

A huge shout out to all who took part, who sponsored, who baked cakes and who supported, with the biggest shout out to TRibeFitness who organised the whole event seamlessly.

February 2024 Highlighted: –

Rachel, of our wonderful Volunteer Placement Counsellors who has been with the charity since September 2023.

Rachel says “I am so pleased to be involved with CancerHelp at Vine House as I know what vital and life-enhancing help the charity provides to the public, both people affected by cancer and their family members. My favourite thing is being able to provide support to people affected by cancer, and also working alongside such kind hearted, genuine people who want to make a real difference to people’s lives. I would like to see continued success and positive outcomes for the charity, reaching as many people in need as possible and I would like to successfully achieve my level 4 diploma qualification in Therapeutic Counselling in 2024”.

Rachel has been a Holistic Therapist and Reiki healer for over 22 years and really believes in every person’s right to achieve happiness and wellbeing for themselves in their life.

She told us that a long time ago, in my previous life, she worked in TV as a sound mixer and once spent the afternoon with Bruce Forsyth in his lounge at his home. She was completely starstruck!

We are so fortunate to have people such as Rachel working with our teams – our charity really does benefit from the input of students, who not only learn from our therapists but also share the latest practices and research with us so that we can keep up to date in the way we support our clients.
