For over 30 years, CancerHelp has been providing vital support for local families affected by cancer; a place to turn to when going through some of the most difficult times in life. Our teams of dedicated healthcare professionals and volunteers work tirelessly to help patients, both children, young people and adults, their carers and those bereaved as a result of cancer to feel heard and supported in whatever they are facing as a result of cancer. Our Stride Children and Young People’s service also provides support and counselling for children and young people bereaved through any illness, accident or suicide.

The COVID-19 crisis has hit the charitable sector hard in recent months and CancerHelp is no exception. We need your help if we are to survive and continue to provide the excellent care and support our clients – local patients, carers and their families – deserve, and to take some of the strain the NHS is experiencing by being an oasis of support to its heroic healthcare professionals on the front line. Our shops have had to close, cutting off a major revenue stream, along with all our funding raising events being postponed, and our teams have been cut right back due to lack of income.

Please help us to survive throughout the pandemic so that we can continue to give back to our local community. £23 will provide one hour’s counselling support for an adult, child or young person with cancer. A regular monthly donation of just £5 for a year will provide resources for our Stride Children and Young People’s Bereavement Service.

THANK YOU for your support at this difficult time. Visit our Just Giving page CancerHelp Survives 2020 Appeal to make your donation and help ensure that we will always be here for you when you need us most.

COVID-19 update

Our priority is keeping both you and our team safe. This has meant that as a result of government guidance, our support services have all moved to telephone / online support and our Centres are temporarily closed to the public – with Vine House having skeleton staff on site. We can still be contacted either via our email address or by telephone: 01772 793344.

All four retail shops are also closed until the position around lock down changes. If you have been having a wardrobe clear out you can drop any items off at our Vine House cancer support centre in Ribbleton if you are in the neighbourhood doing shopping. Please just call beforehand to check that the building is open, it may be that our General Manager is not in work that day.

Over the coming days we will put more resources on our website. In the meantime One Cancer Voice (this is a group of cancer charities working together to give consistent advice and information) has produced some guidance about coronavirus for people with cancer which you may find helpful. One Cancer Voice – coronavirus update.

We realise that this is a very unsettling time and we remain committed to continuing to be able to give you the support you need during this time and will do our very best to deliver this remotely, either over the phone or other remote means e.g. Zoom. We are busy planning how we can continue to do this in the most effective way and we will keep you informed of any changes.

Please stay safe and look out for more updates on our website or through our social media:
