The Team provides a free, confidential drop in service for anyone affected by cancer. This includes people who:
• need information about cancer;
• have a cancer diagnosis;
• are living with and beyond cancer;
• are looking to reduce the risks of cancer;
• are a relative, carer or friend of someone with cancer; or
• are healthcare professionals

They provide:

  • both telephone and face-to-face support & signposting
  • Appointments with the benefits Team from Preston City Council
  • Outreach work in various community settings

Established in 1982, The Gentle Approach to Cancer is a support Group based in Preston, offering a truly holistic approach. The Team will help you to look at your own needs and show you how to value time doing things that bring you joy. 

Their support group offers advice and counselling for cancer patients and their families; diet, lifestyle, positive thinking, stress control and relaxation, as well as a range of therapies. The support is complementary to your medical treatment and not an alternative to it.

Their Approach provides a powerful combination of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support that is designed to help anyone affected by cancer, at any stage of the disease.

Through courses, groups and individual sessions you can learn how to eat well and stay active, manage your emotions and relationships, and reconnect with the things in life that you love – all of which are linked to health. This Approach has inspired thousands to play an active role in their health and wellbeing, bringing them a renewed sense of hope and control.

Cancer Research UK is a cancer research and awareness charity. As the world’s largest independent cancer research charity it conducts research by the charity’s own staff and by its grant-funded researchers. It also provides information about cancer and runs campaigns aimed at raising awareness and influencing public policy.
